Agder Nye Teater

Gravity by Demian Vitanza

Agder Nye Teater

Tyngde is the story of a life of resistance and the ability of survival mechanisms to lighten the load.

The text stems from conversations between playwright Demian Vitanza and actor Terje Strømdahl. Vitanza explains: "When I got to know him, he had recently lost his husband. I heard stories about this man's struggles through life, with illness, bullying and taking refuge in a religion that didn't allow him to live out his sexual orientation. But even there was solace, and this time it was in the realm of plants. Maybe sometimes you have to get away from the human in order to be human?

Tyngde is a collaboration between Agder Nye Teater and the University of Agder, and is part of the EU project ConnectUp, led by UiA.
The production will be performed at the International Norwegian ASSITEJ Festival, INAF 2023, in Kristiansand and Arendal on skeiva in September 2023. In collaboration with the students at Samtidsteater, ANT expands the text with the experiences of several generations of queer southerners.

Tyngde is a fringe event that is not part of the official festival program.
