Medusa - the lullaby of the sea

SPEKTRA

Medusa at 10:15 is for neurodivergent people with a companion. One ticket includes companion(s). You are welcome to contact us for more information and any needs at theis.irgens@assitej.no

Medusa has long tentacles that can do many things. She rocks slowly in the soft waves of the sea. She blooms. She sleeps. What sounds are heard underwater? What does the jellyfish feel like against the skin? Tonje and Justine play and discover the many sides of Medusa, and magically transform her into an instrument, a ball, a fan and much more. Medusa gives the audience room for wonder and participation.

The visual and tactile aspects of the performance are centered around a large jellyfish (Medusa) in the middle of the stage. A lullaby about the sea is the main element in the soundscape. Simple movements and hand signs (with associations from sign language) are used, and the children are invited to join in.

The performance has two parts. The first part is a performance with different elements such as music, song and dance. The performance can be thought of both as a performance and as a way of suggesting different ways in which children can be in the space. In the second part, the children are invited into the art to explore the space together with the artists. See, hear, smell and feel.

We experience two variations of calm when playing Medusa:

Adapted (7-19 years): Increasing calm as the performance unfolds. In the interactive part, we often find that children (especially those who have a high degree of anxiety from before) stay in the materials, wrap themselves up, lie close together, etc. Some will not move on until they have to.

0-6 years: A high degree of calm and attention from the moment they enter the room and during the performance. In the interactive part, the children move on to curious exploration and play!
