Roundtable discussion on agonistic memory

Want to attend this? There is limited capacity, so it's a good idea to sign up here!

The Memorial Commission is an exhibition about the most important history of World War II in Norway. Andreas Røst is behind the concept, direction and design. The exhibition opened on May 8, 2023 and will remain on display until 2024.

About the exhibition
Norway's memory of World War II is a battle for attention. What should the next big movie be about? Which story needs its own series of novels? And who should be immortalized in exhibitions at museums and memorials? And, not least, why?

Someone has to choose which stories are told. The Memorial Commission has therefore taken on this responsibility, and in this exhibition answers the following questions: Which story from World War II in Norway is most important to tell today? And why?

The Memory Commission is part of the Making Memories research project. Making Memories is supported by the Research Council of Norway through Fellesløftet and the University of Agder.

About the conversation:
In this conversation, Andreas briefly presents the theory of agonistic memory, which the exhibition Minnekommisjonen is inspired by. Participants are then invited to a conversation about the role of the arts in places of memory and as an actor in the culture of memory.

The exhibition is open prior to the talk, between 10:00 and 17:00!

Because the text and audio material in the exhibition is in Norwegian only, this talk will be in Norwegian.
